STRAUB, Christian Markle, a Representative from Schuylkill County; born, 1804 in Milton, Northumberland County, Pa.; merchant; lawyer; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat for the 1842 and 1844 terms; elected, prothonotary, Schuylkill County (1845-1848); elected, sheriff, Schuylkill County (1849-1852); elected, United States Congress (1853-1855); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1856-1858); died, June 7, 1860 in Washington, District of Columbia; interred, Charles Baber Cemetery, Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.
