HOLMES, Dr. Augustine, a Representative from Schuylkill County; born, June 4, 1803 in Sherburne, Chenango County, NY; physician; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1840 term, not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1841 term; unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1845); died, October 18, 1849 in Pine Grove, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania; interred, Saint John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Pine Grove, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.
