GAYLORD, Henderson, a Representative from Luzerne County; born, 1796 in Huntington Township, Luzerne County, Pa.; store clerk (1812-1816); proprietor, Reynolds, Gaylord & Co.(1816-1824), Gaylord & Reynolds (1824-1836); Gaylord & Smith (1836-1839), Gaylord’s (1839-1856), mercantile stores; engaged, real estate; unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1840, 1849); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1856); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1857); president, First National Bank, Plymouth; director, Lackawanna and Bloomsburg Railroad Co. (1860-1864); died, November 28, 1876 in Plymouth, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania; interred, Shawnee Cemetery, Plymouth, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
