BEAUMONT, Andrew, a Representative from Luzerne and Susquehanna Counties; born, January 24, 1790 in Lebanon, New London County, Ct.; attended, Wilkes-Barre Academy; teacher, Wilkes-Barre Academy; presidential appointee, collector of revenue, 20th District (1814-1816); appointed, prothonotary and clerk of courts, Luzerne County (1816-1819); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1821-1822 term; reelected to the House for the 1822-1823 and 1850 terms; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Wilkes-Barre (1826-1832); elected, United States Congress (1833-1837); appointed, Commissioner of Public Buildings, Washington D.C. (1847); died, September 30, 1853 in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania; interred, Hollenback Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
