GILLESPIE, Thomas, a Representative from Luzerne County; born, circa 1804 in Troqueer, Kirkcudbrightshire County, Scotland; proprietor, Gillespie & Pierce, merchants; elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1848); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1849); clerk of commissioners, Carbondale (1851); owner, Gillespie, Pierce & Co., exchange and banking office; died, October 26, 1867 in Carbondale Township, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania; interred, Maplewood Cemetery, Carbondale, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.
