LINN, Matthew, Sr., a Representative from Washington County; born, 1796 in Strabane, Washington County, Pa.; general, Pennsylvania Militia (33 years); farmer; elected, justice of the peace, Strabane (1825, 1845-1870); elected, commissioner, Washington County (1837); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representative for the 1854 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1855 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1857); petit juror, Washington County (1858); died, December 15, 1870 in Strabane, Washington County, Pennsylvania; interred, Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg, Washington County, Pennsylvania.
