BRADY, Jasper Ewing, a Representative from Franklin County; born, March 4, 1797 in Sunbury, Northumberland County, Pa.; apprentice, hatmaking; teacher; attorney (1827-1861); elected, treasurer, Franklin County (1 term); elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to serve the 1844 and 1845 terms; elected, United States Congress (1847-1849); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to Congress (1848); chief audit clerk, office of the paymaster general, United States War Department, Washington DC (1861-1869); died, January 26, 1871 in Washington, District of Columbia.; interred, City Cemetery, Sunbury, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania; removed to Rock Creek Cemetery, Washington, District of Columbia.
