HOOK, Peter Uriah, a Representative from Fayette and Westmoreland Counties; born, September 3, 1809 in Uniontown, Fayette County, Pa.; lieutenant colonel, Aide-de-Camp to Governor William Bigler (1853); hat maker and merchant; elected, delegate, Pennsylvania Canal Commissioners Convention (1843); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1848); innkeeper; elected, delegate, Democratic State Convention (1852); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1852 and 1853 terms; auctioneer; died, October 26, 1862 in Uniontown, Fayette County, Pennsylvania; interred, Oak Grove Cemetery, South Union Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.
