FLENNIKEN, Robert Patterson, a Representative from Fayette County; born, March 1, 1802 in Greene County, Pa.; farmer; lawyer (1831-1872); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1838-1839 term; reelected to the House to serve the 1840 and 1841 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1842 term; presidential appointee, Charge d’Affaires, Denmark (1847-1849); presidential appointee, United States Commissioner (1853); unsuccessful campaign, delegate to Congress, Kansas Territory (1854); presidential appointee, associate justice, Supreme Court of the Utah Territory (1860-1861); died, October 19, 1879 in San Francisco, California; interred, Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania
