MACKEY, James, a Representative from Cumberland and Lancaster Counties; born, November 20, 1795 in Elizabethtown, Lancaster County, Pa.; merchant; surveyor and conveyancer; teacher; minister (1827-1862); elected as an Anti-Mason from Lancaster County to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1831 and 1832; reelected as a Whig from Cumberland County to the House in 1846; elected, justice of the peace, Shippensburg (30 years); unsuccessful campaign, surveyor, Cumberland County (1850); died, June 12, 1877 in Shippensburg, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania; interred, Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.
