LOWERY, James, a Representative from Tioga County; born, 1802 in Farmington, Hartford County, Ct.; graduated, Yale College, 1824; studied law, Ellis Lewis; teacher, Wellsboro Academy (1825-1826); lawyer (1826-1875); unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1850); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1853 and 1854 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1855 term; farmer; died, November 30, 1875 in Burlington, Burlington County, New Jersey; interred, Glenwood Memorial Cemetery, Broomall, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
