VAN HORNE, Thomas, a Representative from Crawford County; born, July 26, 1809 in Vernon Township, Crawford County, Pa.; M.A., Allegheny College, 1835; attorney (1838-1891); farmer; elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1851 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1852 term; associate judge, Crawford County Court (1856-1857); president, Crawford County Bank (1858-1860); partner, Stevenson, Van Horne & Hanna, bankers (1860-1866); elected, county surveyor, Crawford County (6 years); unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1870); died, December of 1891 in Vernon, Crawford County, Pennsylvania; interred, Greendale Cemetery, Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania.
