POWER, Alexander, a Representative from Crawford County; born, November 6, 1806 in Crawford County Pa.; farmer; merchant (1858-1870); justice of the peace (1840-1850); miller; unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1843); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1845 and 1846 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1847 term; supervisor, western division, Pennsylvania Canal Commission (1848-1849); elected, school board, Meadville (14 years); director, Pittsburgh and Erie Railroad (1853); director, Mutual Insurance Co. (1877); president, Merchants’ National Bank, Meadville (1881-1885); died, March 6, 1894 in Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania; interred, Conneaut Cemetery, Custards, Crawford County, Pennsylvania.
