CALDWELL, Samuel, a Representative from Clinton, Lycoming and Potter Counties; born, January 1, 1807 in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pa.; major, Pennsylvania Militia; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Newberry (1829-1833); lumberman; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1856 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1857); died, December 23, 1883 in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania; interred, Williamsport Cemetery, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
