THOMAS, Philip Dunn, a Representative from Chester County; born, 1807 in Meadville, Crawford County, Pa.; engaged, saddle and harness trade; proprietor, Thomas and Garrett, lumber business; superintendent, West Chester Railroad; elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1845; superintendent and toll collector, Schuylkill Canal Company; proprietor, lumber and boat building business; manager, Mercantile Oil Company, Forest County, Pa. (1864-1875); farmer; elected, commissioner, Forest County (1867); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1876); died, February 7, 1878 in West Chester, Chester County, Pennsylvania; interred, Oaklands Cemetery, West Goshen Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
