JORDAN, Benjamin, a Representative in from Dauphin County; born, July 19, 1779, near Milton, Northumberland County, Pa.; bookseller; editor, Lancaster Intelligencer (1805-1808); appointed, weighmaster, Port of Philadelphia (1808-1816); elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to serve the 1844 term; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1846-1848); died, May 24, 1861 in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania; interred, Paxton Presbyterian Churchyard, Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
