JACKSON, Morrison Elijah, a Representative from Columbia and Montour Counties; born, February 10, 1817 in Berwick, Columbia County, Pa.; lawyer (1840-1878); postmaster, United States Postal Service, Berwick (1846-1849); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1852 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1853 term; director, First National Bank, Berwick (1864-1878); trustee, Bloomsburg Literary Institute and Normal School (now Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania); died, July 23, 1878 in Berwick, Columbia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Pine Grove Cemetery, Berwick, Columbia County, Pennsylvania.
