BARRETT, George Rodden, a Representative from Clearfield, Clinton and Lycoming Counties; born, March 31, 1815 in Curwensville, Clearfield County, Pa.; apprentice, printing trade; studied law, James F Linn; editor and publisher, The Jeffersonian (1833-1834); owner and editor, Lewisburg Democrat (1835-1836); lawyer (1836-1889); appointed, deputy attorney general, Clearfield and Jefferson Counties (1837); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1842 and 1843 terms; elected, delegate, Pennsylvania Democratic Convention (1852); presidential appointee, Committee to Codify United States Revenue Laws (1852); appointed, president judge, 22nd Judicial District (1853); elected, president judge, Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, Clearfield County (1855-1870, resigned); died, March 9, 1889 in Clearfield, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania; interred, Hillcrest Cemetery, Clearfield, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania.
