GAMBLE, James, a Representative from Clearfield, Clinton and Lycoming Counties; born, January 28, 1809 in Jersey Shore, Lycoming County, Pa.; attended, Jersey Shore Academy; lawyer (1832-1883); elected, treasurer, Lycoming County (1834-1836); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1841 and 1842 terms; elected, United States Congress (1851-1855); appointed, president judge, 25th Judicial District (1859-1860); elected, president judge, Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, Lycoming County (1868-1878); died, February 22, 1883 in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania; interred, Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
