LAVERTY, James H., a Representative from Clearfield, Clinton and Lycoming Counties; born, 1796 in New Jersey; school teacher; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1837-1838 term; reelected to the House for the 1838-1839 and 1840 terms; resigned from the House prior to Swearing-In, January 3, 1840; died, June 29, 1859 in Steubenville, Jefferson County, Ohio; interred, Two Ridges Cemetery, Wintersville, Jefferson County, Ohio.
