CALDWELL, Alexander, a Representative from Clearfield, Elk and McKean Counties; born, July 15, 1790 in Chinklacamoose (now Clearfield), Lycoming County (now Clearfield County), Pa.; appointed, deputy constable, Lawrence Township (1822); elected, commissioner, Clearfield County (1829-1831); elected, sheriff, Clearfield County (1850-1853); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1854 term; reelected to the House as a Democrat American for the 1855 term; farmer; died, September 8, 1876 in Clearfield, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania; interred, Centre Cemetery, Hyde, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania.
