STRUTHERS, James Robb, a Representative from Carbon and Lehigh Counties; born, August 3, 1815 in Paisely, Scotland; attended, Manual Labor Academy of Germantown; M.A., Lafayette College, 1835; studied law under James Madison Porter; teacher; lawyer; elected, District Attorney, Carbon County (1843-1846); state agent, Columbia Railroad; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1845 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1846 term; elected, treasurer, Carbon County (1849-1851); reelected to the House for the 1853 and 1854 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1855 term; boating supervisor; died, May 6, 1885 in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania; interred, Mauch Chunk Cemetery, Jim Thorpe, Carbon County, Pennsylvania
