ELY, Jonathan, Jr., a Representative from Bucks County; born, April 27, 1804 in Solebury, Bucks County, Pa.; farmer; appointed, justice of the peace, Solebury and Buckingham Townships (1832); member, Bucks County Democratic Committee; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1851, 1852, and 1853 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1854 term; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1855-1858); died, February 7, 1864 in Solebury, Bucks County, Pennsylvania; interred, Solebury Friends Graveyard, Solebury, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
