ELLIOTT, John, a Representative from Bradford County; born, May 20, 1791 in Sugar Run, Luzerne County (now Bradford County), Pa.; captain, 7th Company, 15th Regiment, Pennsylvania Militia (1811-1828); commissioned, division quartermaster, 1828; captain, Company H, 163rd Regiment, 18th Pennsylvania Volunteer Calvary (1862-1863, Civil War); farmer; appointed, justice of the peace (1829-1838); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1844 and 1845 terms; died, February 19, 1876 in Merryall, Bradford County, Pennsylvania; interred, Merryall Cemetery, Merryall, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.
