SALISBURY, James, a Representative from Allegheny County; born, October 28, 1809 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania; glass blower (1826-1852); member, Democratic County Committee (1832-1893); unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1850); elected, burgess, Birmingham (now Pittsburgh) (1852-1856); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1856 term; justice of the peace, Birmingham (1862-1872); appointed, deputy mayor, Pittsburgh (1872-1881); alderman, 28th Ward, Pittsburgh (1872-1887); died, January 10, 1893 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Union Dale Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
