PARKE, John E., a Representative from Allegheny County; born, December 12, 1806 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pa.; engaged, drug business; proprietor, Phelps, Parke & Co., wagon manufacturers; elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1853; elected, associate judge, Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, Allegheny County (1856-1865); director, People’s Insurance Company of Pittsburgh (1875); unsuccessful campaign, treasurer, Allegheny County (1876); gubernatorial appointee, manager, Pennsylvania Reform School; died, April 22, 1885 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Union Dale Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
