APPLETON, George Etherington, a Representative from Allegheny County; born, August 7, 1821 in Pennsylvania; A.M., Allegheny College; lawyer; elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1852 and 1853 terms; librarian, Young Men's Mercantile Library and Mechanics' Institute (1862-1874); real estate agent; died, June 7, 1907 in New Brighton, Beaver County, Pennsylvania; interred, Grove Cemetery, New Brighton, Beaver County, Pennsylvania.
