LIGHTNER, Isaac, a Representative from Allegheny County; born, 1792 in Lancaster County, Pa.; lieutenant, 2nd Brigade, 4th Division, 98th Regiment, Rifle Corps, Pennsylvania Militia (1814, War of 1812); co-owner, Jackson Foundry (1823-1840); co-owner, Kingsland, Lightner & Cuddy Foundry (1831-1840); director, Office of Discount and Deposit of the United States (1831); commissioner, Pittsburgh Navigation and Fire Insurance Company (1832); director, Merchants and Manufacturers Bank (1833); elected, council, Allegheny City (now Pittsburgh) (1828-1835: president, 1830-1831); elected, school director, Allegheny City (1834-1835); elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1841 and 1842 terms; appointed, Select Committee to Investigate the Expenditures Upon the Canals and Railroads of Pennsylvania (1841); not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1843 term; co-owner, Kingsland & Lightner foundry, St. Louis (1842-1849); died, July of 1849 in St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri; interred, Bellefontaine Cemetery, St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri.
