MURRAY, John, a Representative from Allegheny County; born, January 11, 1807 in Ebensburg, Cambria County, Pa.; proprietor, Cambria Gazette (1824-1830); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1842 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1843); elected, auditor, Allegheny County (1855-1858); unsuccessful campaign, auditor, Allegheny County (1858); unsuccessful campaign, commissioner, Allegheny County (1859); clerk and coal merchant; justice of the peace; died, April 21, 1886 in Allegheny City (now Pittsburgh), Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
