CAROTHERS, Robert, a Representative from Allegheny County; born, circa 1793; colonel, 61st Regiment, Pennsylvania Militia; lawyer; officer, Pittsburgh and New Alexandria Turnpike Road Company (1824); tax assessor and collector, Plum Township; elected, commissioner, Allegheny County (1834-1838); elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to serve the 1838-1839 and 1840 terms; died, May 21, 1853 in Monroeville, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Crossroads Cemetery, Monroeville, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
