MARCHAND, Dr. George Washington, a Representative from Armstrong County; born, January 4, 1813 in Westmoreland County, Pa.; physician; elected, delegate, State Democratic Convention (1841); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1842 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1843 term; toll collector, Johnstown (1850-1852); supervisor, Des Moines County, Iowa (1861); died, August 8, 1863 in Flint River, Des Moines County, Iowa.
