POTTEIGER, John, a Representative from Berks County; born, August 30, 1783 in Bernville, Berks County, Pa.; farmer; elected, commissioner, Berks County (1825-1828); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1832-1833 term; reelected to the House for the 1842, 1843 and 1844 terms; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1847-1849); elected, sheriff, Berks County (1850-1853); died, April 25, 1858 in Jefferson Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania; interred, Saint Thomas Cemetery, Bernville, Berks County, Pennsylvania.
