WINTRODE, Dr. John Henry, a Representative from Blair and Huntingdon Counties; born, August 24, 1823 in Adams County, Pa.; attended, Pennsylvania College, 1841; M.D., Cincinnati College, 1846; captain, Company C, 53rd Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1861-1862, Civil War); physician; elected, delegate, Whig State Convention (1849); director, Huntingdon and Broad Top Mountain Railroad and Coal Company (1853); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1853); overseer of Huntingdon County, Pa.
