WINTRODE, Dr. John Henry, a Representative from Blair and Huntingdon Counties; born, August 24, 1823 in Adams County, Pa.; attended, Pennsylvania College, 1841; M.D., Cincinnati College, 1846; captain, Company C, 53rd Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1861-1862, Civil War); physician; elected, delegate, Whig State Convention (1849); director, Huntingdon and Broad Top Mountain Railroad and Coal Company (1853); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1853); overseer of Huntingdon County, Pa. (1855); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as an American Party candidate for the 1856 and 1857 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1858 term; elected, council, Marklesburg (1873); elected, school director, Marklesburg (1874); died, November 18, 1895 in Marklesburg, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania; interred, Reformed Cemetery, Marklesburg, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania.
