TAYOUN, James J. "Jimmy," a Representative from Philadelphia County; born in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa., March 27, 1930; B.S., Temple University, 1951; attended, Villanova University; served, United States Army (1953-1955); restaurateur; president, South Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1969 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1971 term; special assistant, Register of Wills office, Philadelphia (1972); reelected to the House for the 1973 and 1975 terms; resigned from the House, January 4, 1976; elected, council, Philadelphia (1976-1984, 1988-1992); unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1984, 1986); publisher and editor, Philadelphia Public Record (1999-2016); unsuccessful campaign, State Senate (2004); died, November 1, 2017 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
