MAUGLE, John C., a Representative from Bucks County; born, September 21, 1828 in Applebachsville, Bucks County, Pa.; colonel, 2nd Regiment, Bucks County, Pennsylvania Militia; served, Company E, 191st Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1864-1865, Civil War); farmer; elected, delegate, State Democratic Convention (1843, 1844); elected, recorder of deeds, Bucks County (1845-1846); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1856, 1857, and 1858 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1859 term; innkeeper, Haycock, Pa.; hotel keeper and clerk, Philadelphia; died, January 23, 1888 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Saint Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Applebachsville, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
