JENKINS, Steuben, a Representative from Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties; born, September 28, 1819 in Wyoming, Luzerne County, Pa.; attorney-at-law; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1856 and 1857; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1858); clerk and attorney, County Commissioners’ office, Luzerne County; elected, justice of the peace, Wyoming, Pa.; manager, Foreign Mail Bureau, United States Postal Service; reelected to the House in 1882; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1884); trustee, State Hospital for the Insane at Danville; director, First National Bank of Pittston; died, May 29, 1890 in Wyoming, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania; interred, Laurel Hill Cemetery, Orangeville, Columbia County, Pennsylvania.
