MAHAFFEY, Lindsey, a Representative from Clinton and Lycoming Counties; born, August 13, 1814 in Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pa.; attended, Williamsport Academy; merchant (24 years); farmer; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1859 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1860 term; elected, delegate, Republican National Convention (1860); appointed, revenue collector, Centre, Clinton, Lycoming and Tioga Counites (1862); founder and director, West Branch Bank; elected, delegate, Republican State Convention (1873); elected, common and select council, Lycoming Township (1880-1897; president, 1883-1897); elected, member, Lycoming Township School Board; died, October 12, 1897 in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania; interred, Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
