STUART, Hugh, a Representative from Cumberland and Perry Counties; born, November 16, 1816 in South Middleton Township, Cumberland County, Pa.; farmer; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1857 and 1858; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1859); elected, associate judge, Perry County (1861-1870); director of the poor, Cumberland County; died, October 15, 1880 in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania; interred, Old Graveyard (Carlisle Public Graveyard), Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.
