O’NEILL, Charles, a Representative from Philadelphia City and Philadelphia County; born, March 21, 1821 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa.; graduated, Dickinson College, 1840; attorney-at-law (1843-1893); elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1850, 1851 and 1852 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1853 term; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1853); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1860 term: not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1861 term; elected, United States Congress (1863-1871, 1873-1893); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to Congress (1870); died while in office of Congress, November 25, 1893 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
