POWER, John, a Representative from Cumberland and Perry Counties; born, circa 1822 in Dauphin County, Pa.; major, 177th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862-1863, Civil War); post quartermaster, Annapolis, Maryland; engaged, tanning business; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1859; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1860); proprietor, City Hotel, Williamsport, Pa.; clerk, Bomgardner Boarding House, Harrisburg; died, May 24, 1882 in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania; interred, Harrisburg Cemetery, Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
