Hayes & Co., mercantile store; proprietor, flour and grain mill; grain, flour and coal dealer; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1858 term; reelected to the House for the 1860 and 1861 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1859 and 1862 terms; Inspector, United States Custom Service, Philadelphia; died, December 1, 1886 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Lewisburg Cemetery, Lewisburg, Union County, Pennsylvania.
