GORDON, Isaac Grantham, a Representative from Clearfield, Elk, Jefferson and McKean Counties; born, December 22, 1819 in Lewisburg, Union County, Pa.; attended, Lewisburg Academy; studied law, James F. Linn; employed, iron foundry; iron molder; lawyer (1843-1872); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1860 and 1861 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1862 term; appointed, president judge, Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, Mercer and Venango Counties (1866); elected, judge, Supreme Court of Pennsylvania (1873-1888: chief justice, 1887-1888); died, September 4, 1893 in Brookville, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania; interred, Brookville Cemetery, Brookville, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania.
