BARNSLEY, Joseph, a Representative from Bucks County; born, June 9, 1820 in Newtown, Bucks County, Pa.; farmer; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1858; reelected to the House in 1859 and 1860; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1861); collector, 5th district, United States Internal Revenue (1868-1870); president, The Hay Market Company (11 years); director, Hatboro National Bank (1875-1888); chairman, Bucks County Republican Convention (1880); died, January 12, 1888 in Hartsville, Bucks County, Pennsylvania; interred, Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church Cemetery, Newtown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
