WILSON, Joseph Hemphill, a Representative from Beaver and Lawrence Counties; born, May 16, 1820 in North Sewickley Township (now Franklin Township), Beaver County, Pa.; graduated, Jefferson College (now Washington and Jefferson College), 1848; colonel, 101st Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1861-1862, Civil War); farmer; lawyer (1850-1862); elected, District Attorney, Beaver County (1853-1856); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1859, 1860, and 1861 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1862 term; died as a result from battle while serving in the Pennsylvania Infantry, May 30, 1862 near Richmond, James City County, Virginia; interred, English Lutheran Church Cemetery, Zelienople, Butler County, Pennsylvania.
