Porter; lawyer (1850-1887); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1861; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1862); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1862); elected, judge, Common Pleas Court, Philadelphia (1868-1869); removed from the bench due to contested election (March, 1869); died, February 10, 1887 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Mount Moriah Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
