RYON, James, a Representative from Schuylkill County; born, November 13, 1831 in Elkland, Tioga County, Pa.; attended, Lawrenceville Academy; attended, Genesee College (now Syracuse University); lawyer (1856-1863, 1873-1900); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1862 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1863 term; elected, president judge, Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, Schuylkill County (1863-1873); unsuccessful campaign for reelection as judge (1873); member, John Anderson and Company Coal Firm; died, January 29, 1900 in Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania; interred, Charles Baber Cemetery, Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.
