(1841-1843, 1855-1856); elected, delegate, Republican National Convention (1860); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1861 and 1862 terms; elected as an Independent Republican, United States Congress (1863-1865); appointed, deputy collector, port of Philadelphia (1866-1868); farmer; died, April 11, 1886 in Standing Stone, Bradford County, Pennsylvania; interred, Wysox Cemetery, Wysox, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.
