BLANCHARD, John W., a Representative from Beaver and Lawrence Counties; born, February 1, 1832 in Hamilton, Warren County, Oh.; clerk; laborer, railroad construction; member, Lawrence County Republican Committee; superintendent, New Castle & Beaver Valley railroad (5 years); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1861 and 1862 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1863 term; elected, delegate, State Republican Convention (1864); elected, Pennsylvania delegate, National Republican Convention (1868); superintendent, Mahony Valley railroad; superintendent, St. Louis Salem & Little Rock railroad (5 years); elected, Missouri delegate, Republican National Convention (1876); superintendent, Omaha and St. Louis Railroad; engaged, coal industry, Tennessee; died, January 25, 1908 in Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie County, Iowa; interred, Fairview Cemetery, Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie County, Iowa.
