WATSON, John Davis, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, circa 1824 in Maryland; newspaper editor; editor, North American and United States Gazette; board member, Mercantile Library of Philadelphia; president, executive committee, Philadelphia People’s Union Party (1860-1861); elected as a Union Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1864 term; elected, delegate and vice president, Philadelphia Republican Convention (1868).
