BARGER, Thomas Jefferson, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa., June 24, 1833; graduated, St. Joseph’s College (now St. Joseph’s University), 1849; graduated, University of Pennsylvania Law School, 1854; copyist for several lawyers; attorney; elected, common council, Philadelphia (1862); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1863 and 1864 terms; unsuccessful campaign, city solicitor, Philadelphia (1868, 1871); solicitor, Sheriff’s office, Philadelphia County; died, December 15, 1881 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
